*****January, 2010, marks our twenty-first year at WAPS radio.

*****When we started at WAPS in 1989, our frequency was 89.1 FM.  The frequency later changed to 91.3 when a new tower was built in 1994.

*****Frankie Spetich Sr., founding disc jockey of the show, has been on a radio show of some kind since he and his band performed live on WCUE in 1953.

*****When the show first started in 1989, it was a 90 minute show, from 4:30 PM till 6:00.  Later, it changed to a two hour show, 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM, until July, 2008, when it was changed to 6:00 PM and switched to a 60 minute show.

*****Below is who you have heard on the air from July 4, 2010 until August 1, 2010.  We are continuing the most variety on any Slovenian style polka radio show.  During that time we have played 93 tunes and only repeated zero of them.  Think we are lying?  Go to our "Radio Shows" page and listen to our variety.

*****Our list of 63 bands over one month of one hour shows (Since July 4, 2010) may be impressive, but even more impressive may be that over that same period of time, we have played 93 different songs.  We average playing anywhere from 18-20 songs in a one hour show, and have only repeated zero songs.  We pride ourselves on giving the biggest variety of tunes, and if you are wondering if we have played one of your favorite songs, then give us a listen or get in touch with us.  The list is too long to keep adding to and having it on the site.

*****Since Slovenian Melodies switched to a one hour show on July 6, 2008, we have played many tunes, by many bands.  Our goal has been to try and not repeat songs and play the same songs or bands over and over and over.  Not taking requests helps us with this goal.  We know our listeners enjoy the variety, as their communications with us tells us.  We also give our listeners the chance to hear songs or bands that they have not heard for a long time.  Since we started on July 6, 2008, through our June 27, 2010 show, here are the 187 different bands we have (in alphabetical order) on the air, and the number of times we have played one of their songs (above is the list of the bands we have played from July 4, 2010):
